Upon receipt, the biological samples are aliquoted in high-security straws, heat sealed, which prevents cross contamination of samples stored in the same container. These straw are identified by unforgeable bar code and.
Other media such as cryovials and plates can also be used.

Conservation and storage of samples.

Biological samples are stored at - 80 ° C in electric freezers, at - 196 ° C in liquid nitrogen or -130 ° C in nitrogen vapor.

Sample security measures include :

- Real-time monitoring of temperatures by Elpro Ecolog Datologger with regular recording and archiving
- Temperature and level alarms connected to the security system of the University Hospital of Amiens
- Electrical alarms connected to the security system of the University Hospital of Amiens
- Burglar alarm connected to the security system of the University Hospital of Amiens

Sample traceability

Computerized management of enrolled subjects, samples, specimens, derivatives and all their aliquots is provided by a dedicated software (Datbiotec ®, Oriam), secured by password and whose base is backed up daily. It integrates all the elements of source, preparation, conservation, and possible destinations. The samples are stored and handled anonymously.

Retrieval and use

Retrospectively, the straws or samples removed from storage can be further explored (biomedical or quality control analysis) before they are integrated in scientific research programs.
